Venerable Daniel the Hermit, in his youth, entered a monastery. Later, he sought a life of solitude, dwelling in a narrow cave carved into a rock. Stephen the Great, Prince of Moldavia, deeply respected Daniel. Before a crucial battle against the Tatars in 1475, Stephen sought Daniel's counsel. The hermit prophesied victory, urging Stephen to fight in the name of Christ. Stephen won the battle and, in gratitude, built the Putna Monastery near Daniel's hermitage, seeking his ongoing spiritual guidance.

Lord, may #DanielTheHermit intercede for us, that we may also be courageous in faith and wise in action. #Saints #OrthodoxChristian #Prayer #Moldavia #Monasticism
