Montanus and Maxima, a married couple, lived in the Roman province of Africa. During the persecutions of Christians under Emperor Decius, they were arrested for their faith. Refusing to renounce Christ, they were subjected to brutal tortures. They remained steadfast, and were ultimately beheaded. Their unwavering faith and love for each other inspired many.
