Hieromartyr Irineu, Bishop of Sirmium, steadfastly refused to offer pagan sacrifices despite Emperor Probus's decree. Facing torture and imprisonment, Irineu remained firm in his faith. When urged by his parents to save himself, he declared his unwavering commitment to Christ. Condemned for his beliefs, he was beheaded in 304 A.D. His last prayer was for those who persecuted him.
