The Virgin Mary, betrothed to Joseph, was visited by the Archangel Gabriel, who announced she would conceive and bear a son named Jesus, the Son of the Most High. Though a virgin, she humbly accepted God's will, responding, "Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." She conceived through the Holy Spirit and later visited her cousin Elizabeth, who was pregnant with John the Baptist, where Mary proclaimed the Magnificat, glorifying God.
