Venerable Paraschiva, as a young girl, upon hearing the Gospel read in church, was deeply moved by the words: "Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself." She immediately gave away all her expensive clothes to the poor. This act of compassion defined her life of devotion. She sought refuge in monasteries and lived a life of asceticism, prayer, and charity. Her relics are now a source of pilgrimage and healing for many.
