Visarion, born in Gorj, became a monk at Lainici Monastery. When plague struck Bucharest, he went to minister to the sick, anointing them and offering comfort. Arrested for his faith and accused of sorcery, he endured torture and imprisonment in chains. Refusing to renounce Christ, he was sentenced to death and beheaded in Bucharest.
