In the 15th century, a merchant named John lived in Wallachia. Traveling through the forests, he was attacked by Tatars. Refusing to renounce his Christian faith, he was tortured and beheaded. Miraculously, his body was recovered by a Romanian priest and later enshrined at Prislop Monastery. He is revered for his steadfast faith and miraculous intercessions.
