Dosoftei, a scholar-monk, fled Poland amidst religious turmoil. In Moldavia, he became Metropolitan, championing Romanian language in liturgy and literature against Slavonic dominance. He established a printing press, translating and publishing religious texts in Romanian, fostering national identity. Later, facing political strife, he was exiled to Poland, where he died.
