Ermil, a deacon, and Stratonic, a guard, were martyred in 315 AD during Licinius's persecution. Ermil boldly confessed Christ, enduring torture while Stratonic, secretly a Christian, wept openly. Betrayed by his tears, Stratonic confessed his faith. They were then both beaten and thrown into the river Danube. Their bodies washed ashore, found by Christians, and buried near Singidunum.
