In 1760, during a time of religious persecution in Transylvania, Martyr Oprea of Săliştea steadfastly defended his Orthodox faith against forced conversion to Catholicism. He refused to renounce his beliefs, enduring imprisonment and torture. He was ultimately martyred for his unwavering commitment to Orthodoxy. His sacrifice became a symbol of resistance and faith for the Orthodox Romanians. May his prayers strengthen us in our own trials.
