Venerable John Iacob the Romanian, after a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, felt drawn to the monastic life. He joined the Romanian Skete of St. John the Baptist near the Jordan River and later lived as a hermit in the caves of Hozeva. Despite harsh conditions and temptations, he dedicated himself to prayer, fasting, and writing spiritual poetry. His love for God and devotion to the ascetic life shone brightly, attracting others seeking spiritual guidance.
