St. Andrew, brother of St. Peter, was called by Jesus to be an Apostle. Before following Christ, he was a disciple of John the Baptist. Andrew, whose name means "manly," brought his brother Peter to meet Jesus, saying, "We have found the Messiah." After the Pentecost, he preached the Gospel in Scythia, along the Black Sea, and in Greece. In Patras, Greece, he was crucified upside down on an X-shaped cross, now known as St. Andrew's Cross, because he felt unworthy to die in the same manner as Christ.
Let us pray to #SaintAndrew, that through his intercessions, we may be steadfast in our faith and bring others to Christ. #Apostle #OrthodoxSaints #Christianity #PrayerRequest #Faith
