Niphon, a monk from Mount Athos, reluctantly accepted the patriarchal throne of Constantinople. Known for his strict asceticism and uncompromising stance against corruption, he challenged Emperor Andronikos II Palaiologos on multiple occasions for his immoral behavior and unjust policies. Despite facing exile and opposition, Niphon remained steadfast in his principles, prioritizing spiritual integrity over political expediency. Pray that, like Niphon, we may have the courage to stand for truth and righteousness, even in the face of adversity.
