Dasius, a Roman soldier during Emperor Diocletian's reign, was chosen by lot to play a pagan role in the festival of Saturnalia. A devout Christian, Dasius refused to participate in the sacrilegious acts. He openly confessed his faith, rejecting the idol worship and debauchery associated with the festival. For his unwavering devotion, he was martyred on November 20, 303 AD, beheaded outside Durostorum.
