Venerable John the New, known for his ascetic life, was martyred in the 14th century in the city of Akkerman (present-day Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Ukraine). He was a merchant, and when refusing to renounce his faith, he was tortured and beheaded. His relics performed many miracles, and the faithful venerated him as a saint. He is a protector of the persecuted and a symbol of unwavering faith. Holy Venerable John, pray to God for us, that He may grant us strength and perseverance in our trials, and that we may remain steadfast in our faith!
