On this day, we remember the brave Martyr Emilian of Durostorum, who lived during the reign of Julian the Apostate. Emilian, a slave, saw the pagan idols and altars set up by the emperor and, filled with righteous anger and faith, he went into the temple and smashed them with a hammer. He was caught, tortured, and ultimately burned alive. Yet, even in the flames, he glorified Christ!
