Stephen the Great, Prince of Moldavia, faced a massive Ottoman army at Vaslui in 1475. Outnumbered, he prayed fervently, rallied his troops, and used the terrain to his advantage. A thick fog descended, confusing the Ottomans, and Stephen's forces launched a surprise attack. The victory was decisive, saving Moldavia and much of Eastern Europe from Ottoman conquest. He attributed the victory to God's grace.
