St. Andrew, brother of St. Peter, was called by Jesus to be an Apostle, becoming the first to follow Him. He preached the Gospel throughout Scythia, modern-day Romania and Ukraine, and was martyred in Patras, Greece, crucified on an X-shaped cross. He continued to preach to those crucifed with him, bringing even more souls to the Lord, even while his body was suffering.

Let us pray to St. Andrew, that through his intercessions, we may be strengthened to share the Gospel with boldness and love. May his example inspire us to embrace suffering for Christ's sake.
