The angel Gabriel appeared to a young virgin named Mary in Nazareth, announcing she would conceive and bear a son, Jesus, by the Holy Spirit. Though a virgin, she humbly accepted God's will, declaring herself the Lord's servant. Her "yes" paved the way for the Incarnation, where God became man. She visited her cousin Elizabeth, who was also pregnant, and Elizabeth recognized Mary as the Mother of God. Mary gave birth to Jesus in Bethlehem.

O Most Holy Theotokos, intercede for us, that we may also embrace God's will with humility and faith.
