Martyr John the Valah, a young Romanian Christian in 17th-century Constantinople, refused to convert to Islam despite immense pressure from the Ottoman authorities. Promised wealth and status, threatened with torture and death, John remained steadfast in his faith. He declared Christ as the true God. Enraged, the Ottomans beheaded him. His courage inspired many to cling to their Christian faith.
