Hieromartyr Irineu, Bishop of Sirmium, stood firm during Emperor Maximian's persecution. Brought before the authorities, he refused to offer sacrifice to idols, confessing Christ as the only true God. Despite pleas from his family to renounce his faith and save himself, Irineu remained steadfast. He was beheaded for his unwavering devotion.
