In the 18th century, Calinic, born in Bucharest, felt a divine call early in life. Despite his parents' wishes for him to marry, he secretly left home to join the Cernica Monastery. His spiritual growth was rapid, and he became a monk, then a deacon, and eventually a priest. Known for his wisdom and administrative skills, he was appointed Abbot of Cernica. Later, he became Bishop of Râmnic, where he focused on restoring churches and monasteries, promoting education, and caring for the poor. He was a prolific writer and translator of religious texts, leaving a lasting legacy of spiritual and cultural renewal.
Let us pray to #CalinicOfCernica, asking for guidance and strength in our own spiritual journeys, that we may emulate his dedication to #faith and service. May his example inspire us to works of #charity and to uphold the #traditions of our holy church.
