Born in Vidin, Bulgaria, Gherasim yearned for monastic life, joining a skete near the Tismana Monastery in Romania. He excelled in obedience and prayer, later becoming a priest. In 1769, during Austro-Turkish conflicts, invading Turks demanded the monastery's hidden treasures. Gherasim bravely declared there was nothing but God's grace within its walls. Enraged, they tortured him, seeking to learn the location of the treasures. He endured, refusing to betray his brethren or the monastery. They beheaded him before the altar.

Holy #Gherasim, intercede for us, that we may have the strength to stand firm in our #Faith! #Saints #OrthodoxChristian #Prayer #Martyr
