In 1821, during the Wallachian uprising, Gregory IV sheltered rebels in monasteries, attempting to mediate between them and the Ottoman forces. His efforts to prevent bloodshed were viewed with suspicion by both sides. Accused of aiding the revolt, he was arrested by the Ottomans and exiled to Izmir. Despite facing false accusations and displacement, Gregory IV maintained his faith and worked for reconciliation, eventually returning to Bucharest. May #God grant us such resolve.
