Montanus, a priest, and Maxima, his wife, stood firm in their Christian faith when Emperor Diocletian demanded they renounce Christ. Brought before the governor, they refused to offer sacrifices to pagan gods. Despite brutal torture, including beatings and lacerations, their resolve remained unbroken. Even the pleas of their family could not sway them. Ultimately, they were cast into the sea, finding their martyrdom and eternal life together.
