In a time when Goths persecuted Christians, Sava, a devout believer, lived near Buzău. The authorities sought to force Christians to eat pagan sacrificial meat. Sava refused, declaring his unwavering faith in Christ. Dragged before the Gothic king, he remained steadfast, denouncing idols and proclaiming Christ as the true God. Angered, the king ordered Sava drowned in the river Buzău. As he was submerged, Sava rejoiced, seeing a vision of heavenly glory. His martyrdom strengthened the faith of other Christians, who secretly gathered his relics.
