Saint Andrew, brother of Peter, was fishing in the Sea of Galilee when Jesus called, "Follow me." Leaving their nets, they became the first apostles. Andrew preached throughout Scythia, modern-day Romania, and Ukraine, establishing churches. Tradition says he was crucified in Patras on an X-shaped cross.
