During the reign of Emperor Licinius, Ermil, a deacon, and Stratonic, a soldier, were arrested for their unwavering faith in Christ. They were subjected to brutal tortures, but remained steadfast. Ermil was forced to watch Stratonic suffer, yet neither renounced their faith. Finally, they were bound together and cast into the river Istrus (Danube). Their bodies were later recovered and buried, and they are venerated as martyrs for their ultimate devotion.
