In Rome, during the reign of Emperor Aurelian, Hermes, a high-ranking official, was arrested for his Christian faith. Refusing to renounce Christ, he was subjected to torture. Miraculously, he remained unharmed. The judge, astonished, summoned a sorcerer to use magic against Hermes, but the sorcerer was instead converted by Hermes's unwavering faith and powerful prayers. Both Hermes and the converted sorcerer, along with other believers, were beheaded.
