Venerable Dimitrie lived a humble life as a shepherd near the village of Basarabi, Romania, in the 13th century. He lived a life of prayer and quiet contemplation. When he felt his end was near, he laid down between two stones by the banks of the river. Years later, after a plague struck the area, the saint appeared in a dream to a pious woman, revealing his relics were near the river. The relics were found incorrupt and were moved to the church in Basarabi.
