Visarion Toța was born into a devout family and became a monk at the Neamț Monastery, later serving as a parish priest. During a time of religious persecution in Romania, he staunchly defended the Orthodox faith, refusing to abandon the Julian Calendar, which was important to the church. He was arrested, tortured, and imprisoned for his beliefs. Despite immense suffering, Visarion remained steadfast in his conviction. He died in prison and was later glorified as a saint.
