In the tumultuous years of the Roman Empire, during the reign of Emperor Diocletian, St. Irineu, the Bishop of Sirmium, fearlessly preached the Gospel. Refusing to renounce his faith, he was subjected to brutal tortures. Despite the agonizing trials, he remained steadfast, his spirit unbroken. His unwavering commitment to Christ inspired many. Ultimately, he was martyred for his faith, a beacon of courage in a time of persecution. We pray, Holy Hieromartyr Irineu, intercede for us, that we may have the strength to stand firm in our faith.
