In his youth, Arsenie (later Cleopa) and his brother were tending sheep when a storm arose. Seeking shelter, they hid in a hollow tree, praying fervently. Lightning struck the tree, splitting it in two, but leaving them unharmed. Arsenie took this as a sign of God's protection and a call to monastic life. He often spoke of this miracle as a reminder of God's constant presence and the power of prayer.
