After 9 days on #nostr here's my honest opinion:
●I like:
- the #Christian #Bitcoineers community;
- that people fund #charity work.
●I don't like:
- part of the technical side of it;
- the bots.
How was the on-boarding as a #newbie and how does it feel to be here?
Getting started was decent since I was familiar with public and private #keys but, oh boy, did I have a hard time setting up relays (there should be some default ones in the beginning), figuring out why I couldn't post images or videos and so on. I also got nervous a couple of time when #zaps were not working due to the LN wallet issues.
On the community side, most people are awesome, smart, and they like to engage in constructive arguments. What I didn't like is when ai bots started to flood the comments, I then started to question everything here.
There are also #generous #philanthropists who funded the charity I started as an experiment. People #zapped over 64k sats for the homeless and I am forever grateful for their generosity ( 10k = 1 meal, 6 meals delivered until now and still have some sats to spend).
As a conclusion, I think the #nostr ecosystem has a lot of potential, I share the same values with it, but I still can't recommend it to my non-techy friends due to some security concerns I have and the resource consumption on my android with the daily #Amethyst app. What I did is recommend it to my techy friends.
What I like most here is the community and this is why I decided to stay, for the people following #dadstr, #Christian, #Jesus, #asknostr and #Bitcoin, for the people welcoming every #newbie under #introductions.
Overall, well done and thank you #nostr devs!
