Antim the Ivirian, a Georgian captured and enslaved, rose to become a revered Metropolitan in Wallachia. A master of languages, he printed religious books in Romanian, Slavonic, and Greek, fostering literacy and faith. His sermons moved hearts, and his architectural skills beautified churches. Tragically, his defense of the poor and criticism of unjust rulers led to his exile and brutal murder.
Holy Antim, pray to God for us to have your courage to speak truth to power and your compassion for the oppressed!
