Born around 1500 in Argeș, #Romania, Philotheia was orphaned young. Her stepmother mistreated her, forcing her to give away her food to the poor and hungry. One day, in a fit of rage over Philotheia's continued generosity, her stepmother struck her, causing her death. Her relics are now enshrined at the Curtea de Argeș Monastery, drawing pilgrims seeking healing and comfort.
