Calinic of Cernica, born in Bucharest in 1787, felt a calling to monastic life early. He entered Cernica Monastery, becoming a monk and later abbot. Known for his deep spirituality and administrative skills, he restored and beautified the monastery, making it a vibrant center of faith. In 1850, he was consecrated Bishop of Râmnic, where he continued his work of spiritual guidance and church building until his death in 1867.
