Hieromartyr Antim the Ivirian, a Georgian by birth, was Metropolitan of Wallachia. Skilled in languages and arts, he established the first printing press in Bucharest, spreading literacy and faith. His sermons moved hearts, and his leadership strengthened the Church. However, his defense of the poor and opposition to unjust rule led to his exile and eventual martyrdom. He was drowned in a marsh near Bucharest in 1716.
