In Bucharest, during the reign of the impious Mehmet Pasha, lived John the Valah, a devout Romanian Christian. Seized for his faith, he was pressured to convert to Islam but stood firm, declaring Christ as his true God. Despite brutal tortures, his resolve never wavered. Dragged through the streets and further tormented, John’s unwavering faith infuriated his captors. Finally, he was beheaded. His martyrdom became a testament to his unyielding devotion.

O, Martyr John, pray to God for us to remain steadfast in our faith.
