Born into nobility, #Gherasim renounced his privileged life and embraced monasticism. He served as a monk at #MountAthos, then returned to his homeland to found the Tismana Monastery, a beacon of faith and learning. His unwavering devotion to Christ and his charitable acts drew the ire of Ottoman authorities who subjected him to brutal tortures. He was martyred for his faith, and his relics perform many miracles.
