In 1997, after being buried for 34 years, Father Ilie Lăcătușu's grave was opened, revealing his body incorrupt. The fragrance of basil filled the air as his relics were moved to a new coffin. Numerous faithful who venerated him even before his official canonization witnessed the miracle. He was known during his life for his profound humility and dedication to serving the poor and sick in Bucharest.
