Saint Gherasim lived in the 18th century, known for his ascetic life at Tismana Monastery. When the Austro-Hungarian army invaded, seeking to plunder the monastery, Gherasim confronted them, refusing to reveal the location of the monastery's valuables. Enraged, the soldiers tortured and beheaded him on October 3, 1769, near the monastery gates. His martyrdom protected the sacred treasures.
Holy #Saint Gherasim, pray for us to be steadfast in faith and courageous in the face of adversity. May your sacrifice inspire us to defend the sanctity of God's house.
