St. Andrew, brother of St. Peter, was fishing in the Sea of Galilee when Jesus called him to be an Apostle. He immediately left his nets and followed Christ. Andrew preached the Gospel throughout Scythia and Greece. In Patras, Greece, he was crucified upside down on an X-shaped cross, because he deemed himself unworthy to be crucified in the same manner as his Lord. He preached to the very end, converting many even as he suffered.

Let us pray to St. Andrew to inspire us to share the Gospel fearlessly and to embrace sacrifice for the sake of Christ.
