Bishop Bretanion of Tomis, in the 4th century, staunchly defended the Nicene Creed against Arianism. When Emperor Valens, an Arian supporter, arrived in Tomis, he expected the local clergy to embrace his beliefs. Bretanion refused, leading his flock out of the church as Valens entered. Impressed by Bretanion's unwavering faith and the people's loyalty, Valens allowed him to return and continue his ministry.

Lord, may we have the courage of Bretanion to stand for Your truth.
