Born in Epivat, Thrace, to pious parents, she displayed a love for God from a young age. One day, while in church, she heard the words, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself." Moved, she and her family gave away their possessions and became monastics. After her parents died, she journeyed to Constantinople, then to the Jordanian desert. Guided by an angel, she returned to Epivat, where she reposed and was buried. Many miracles have been attributed to her relics, now in Iași, Romania.
