Niphon, a monk from Mount Athos, reluctantly accepted the patriarchal throne in Constantinople. Known for his strict asceticism and prophetic gifts, he foresaw tribulations and often clashed with the emperor's court due to his unyielding stance against corruption and moral decay. Niphon once refused to concelebrate with priests who wore luxurious garments, considering it a betrayal of their vows of poverty. He was eventually exiled but remained a beacon of righteousness until his death.
Let us pray for #Niphon's guidance in our fight against worldly temptations. May we find strength in his example to uphold #Orthodox #Virtue and #Tradition. #Saints #Church
