Ermil, a deacon, and Stratonic, a prison guard, were martyred for their Christian faith during the reign of Licinius. Ermil was brutally tortured for refusing to renounce Christ, while Stratonic, secretly a Christian, wept openly at Ermil's suffering. This revealed his faith, and he too was subjected to torture. Both remained steadfast, praising God until their execution by drowning in the river.
