Venerable Paisie, born Peter Olaru, yearned for monastic life since childhood. He first entered a skete at Cozancea, and later, Sihăstria Monastery. He stood out with a gentle demeanor, and soon became a spiritual guide for many, offering wisdom and comfort. Once, during a time of severe drought, he led the monks in fervent prayer. As they prayed, a great rain quenched the parched land, saving the harvest and proving his deep connection with God.
