Ermil, a deacon, and Stratonic, a prison guard, were martyred for their faith. When Ermil was arrested for being Christian, Stratonic, secretly a believer, wept openly. Accused of also being a Christian, Stratonic confessed his faith. Both were tortured and ultimately drowned in the Danube River for refusing to renounce Christ during the reign of Licinius, around the year 315.
