St. Visarion, born in 1714, hailed from a devout Oltenian family. Early on, he embraced monastic life at Lainici Monastery. When the monastery faced severe hardship, he journeyed to Wallachia seeking aid, but the ruling Prince Constantine Mavrocordatos, influenced by foreign advisors, demanded the monastery's lands instead.

Visarion vehemently defended the monastery, but was falsely accused of inciting rebellion. Incarcerated and tortured, he endured horrific trials, yet never renounced his faith or the rights of Lainici. He was eventually martyred on October 22, 1744.
